DIALANG LAUNCH

Jeg valgte at følge Workshoppen DIALANG LAUNCH med spørgsmål og svar da jeg var meget spændt på hvor langt programmet er kommet.

DIALANG er et diagnostisk program som kan indplacere brugeren efter dennes sprogfærdigheder baseret på Council of Europe's Common European Framework. Målet er også at kunne give brugeren råd og vejledning som skal hjælpe denne med at komme op på højere niveauer.

Det spændende ved DIALANG er at den endelige version kommer på 14 EU sprog. Den nuværende version er klar til test i fire af disse sprog spansk, tysk, hollandsk og engelsk.

Programmet tester læse, lytte og skrivefærdighederne og giver anvisninger på hvordan man kan forbedre disse.

Programmet forventes færdigt i efteråret 2002 (Det er støttet gennem EU's Socrates midler)

DIALANG is a European-Union-funded project to develop diagnostic tests in 14 European languages (Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish) and deliver them over the Internet. DIALANG is based upon the Council of Europe's Common European Framework, and incorporates both self-assessment by users, and detailed feedback on performance as well as advice on how to develop one's language proficiency further. The Project is in its last year of public funding, and has already launched a public beta program of Version 1. Version 2 of the program is due to be launched by the end of November, which will incorporate additional features of adaptivity, and take account of feedback from users gathered in the course of 2002. In advance of this session, participants will have the opportunity to access the program, and try it out.

The aim of the session itself, apart from presenting in more detail the background to and rationale for the Project and the tests that have been developed, is to open a discussion between participants and members of the project, to address the usefulness and otherwise of the program, suggest possible future lines of development, and to explore ways in which programs like this can be fully integrated into and enhance both individual and institutional language learning. Even if you have not been able to access the program this session should still be of interest to you, but it will be even more mutually beneficial if you have tried out at least one or two of the tests on the Web, and explored the feedback and advice that the program offers. The program can be accessed via the Project website (www.dialang.org), which is in English, French and German, and all instructions for downloading the program are presented in all 14 languages of the Project.
