Hebridean Food: Cookery Demonstration
Interviews and Questions
If you were able to do the previous
exercises quite easily, you might like to test yourself with something a bit
more challenging now. You can listen to an interview with Isabel Graham
here. If you need to you can also see
a transcript of what she says.
Can you describe your own thoughts about what you’ve seen and heard in these videos? Here are some questions to start you thinking.
How important is it to cook and eat fresh, locally produced food?
Who might
benefit from a cookery demonstration of this kind - local people or visitors?
How?
Would you
like to taste some of the food Isabel was cooking? Why, or why not?
Is it like
the food you usually eat, or different? How?
Activities:
1. Write a
short piece about the cookery demonstration. It could be a
letter to a friend or relation, or a short article for a newspaper or magazine.
2. Discuss
what you’ve learned about Hebridean cooking in your class, or with friends or
workmates.
3. E-mail
your thoughts to other learners who have watched the same videos, and start a
discussion group about cookery. You could swap favourite recipes!
