SeaBus approaching the harbor

Near Canada Place I found the old Canadian Pacific Railway Station which has been restored and is now an important landmark in Vancouver.

From the Canadian Pacific Railway Station I decided to take a SeaBus across the Burrard Inlet. It was a quick and scenic ride from downtown Vancouver to North Vancouver.

The SeaBus is a part of the Greater Vancouver Transit System and, although it is a boat, it operates in the same way as a bus. I just bought a ticket and only had to wait five minutes for the next Seabus, and spent twelve minutes crossing the harbor to Lonsdale Quay, admiring the great view.

On the way to Lonsdale Quay I had a chance to see the busy operations of the Port of Vancouver. It is the largest pacific port in the Americas. Sixty million tons of cargo are exchanged here each year, and every day some thirty ships pass through.

Across the water you might notice a huge yellow mound of sulphor which is among the minerals exported from Vancouver.

In the SeaBus terminal there are a number of doors and landing bridges that are opened when all passengers have left using similar doors on the opposite side. This ensures that boarding passengers do not block the doors for those leaving the SeaBus.

The picture above is taken on board the SeaBus.
